Adoption & Family Welcome Ceremonies
Every family has its own story, and adoption brings a new chapter with a history that deserves to be recognised with care and respect.
At Celebrantes – Bespoke Ceremonies, we create secular, fully personalised ceremonies that celebrate family, belonging and the relationships being built, while respecting each child’s story, identity and individual journey.
The ceremony can give parents, siblings, grandparents and other important people the opportunity to express their welcome, their promises and the place they hope to hold in the child’s life.
A Ceremony Built on Respect, Belonging and Family
Every adoption journey is different, and every child brings their own story, identity and experiences. Our ceremonies are never based on templates or standard symbolic gestures. They are created with care around your family as it is today, while respecting the child’s individual story and privacy.
At the heart of every ceremony:
- The Child Comes First: The length, tone, language and level of participation are carefully adapted to the child’s age, personality and comfort.
- A Bespoke Ceremony Script: Every script is written from scratch, with sensitivity and discretion. Personal history is included only where appropriate and agreed, with the focus on family, belonging and the relationships being built.
- The People Who Matter: Siblings, grandparents, extended family and close friends can be included in ways that feel comfortable and authentic, recognising the network of people who will be part of the child’s life.
How We Create Your Ceremony
Every family has its own story. We create your ceremony around the people, the bonds you share and the meaning you wish to give this moment.
1. Getting to Know Your Story
We begin by getting to know your family, the journey that has brought you to this moment and what you would like the ceremony to represent for everyone involved.
2. Giving Meaning to the Celebration
Together, we define the moments and symbolic elements that best express belonging, commitment and the bonds within your family, always respecting your child's story and age.
3. Creating Your Ceremony Script
We write a fully bespoke ceremony script, bringing together your family's story, the words, contributions and symbolic elements chosen for the celebration.
4. Celebrating as a Family
On the day, one of our celebrants conducts the ceremony with sensitivity and care, giving everyone the space to be fully present for this important family moment.

Tell Us About Your CeremonyFrequently Asked Questions
A few things you may want to know when planning an Adoption & Family Welcome Ceremony.
When is the right time to hold an adoption or family welcome ceremony?
There is no set timetable. Every family and every child is different. The ceremony should take place when it feels appropriate for your family, with the child’s comfort, sense of security and individual circumstances always coming first.
Does the child need to take an active part in the ceremony?
No. Participation is always shaped around the child’s age, personality and comfort. They may choose to speak or take part in a particular moment, or simply be present and enjoy the celebration without being asked to perform or speak in front of others.
Can we involve godparents, mentors or other important people?
Yes. Siblings, grandparents, extended family, godparents, mentors and close friends can all be included where appropriate. They may contribute through readings, personal words or promises of love, guidance and support, always in a way that feels comfortable for the child.
Where can the ceremony take place?
The ceremony can take place wherever your family feels comfortable, from your own home or garden to a private venue, country estate or outdoor setting. The most important consideration is choosing a place where the child can feel relaxed and at ease.
